Abrasives - Recycled Crushed Glass
SunBlast® Abrasive is Recycled Crushed Glass, an economical alternative to traditional abrasive blasting media. The glass is obtained from waste recovery operations, diverting glass from landfills so it can be converted into an abrasive. The glass used is from crushed bottles. Using proprietary equipment, the bottles are broken, crushed into small particles, cleaned and sorted by size. This yields a very consistent and economical blasting abrasive, that is safer to use than other blasting media.
High Efficiency: SunBlast Abrasives offer aggresive cutting in a wide range of application. SunBlast has a relatively low density allowing each ton of material to go further than other abrasives. With a selection of grit sizes, SunBlast can be matched to your specific application to provide the most economical blasting media.
Good Visibility: SunBlast Abrasives provide superior visibility to the substrate while blasting.
Slower Rust Back: SunBlast Abrasives are chemically neutral. They do not contain impurities that will accelate rusting of blasted surfaces. This will slow the time it takes for a blasted surface to begin rusting and extend the allowable time between blasting and painting.
No Heavy Metals: SunBlast Abrasives are made from recycled glass bottles containing virtually no heavy metals. The glass is non-toxic, chemically inert and safe to use.
Crystalline Silica Free: SunBlast Abrasives are made from amorphous glass and are free of crystalline silica.
Less Dust: SunBlast Abrasives produce less dust and does not leave a black or oily residue. It gives better visibility of target area, resulting in a more economical use of product and realizing a time savings by not going over an area, already blasted.
Safer to Use: SunBlast Abrasives are safer to use, being more lung and earth friendly than either Coal Slag or Silica Sand. SunBlast® is made of Glass, and glass contains essentially no “free-silica”, which greatly reduces the threat of silicosis.
Non-Toxic: SunBlast Abrasives contain NO heavy metals, is inert environmentally, and the right answer where impact to the environment might be an issue.
Recycled: SunBlast Brand Abrasives are made entirely from recycled post consumer glass and by using them you help keep America “Green” by reducing landfill deposits.
Economical: SunBlast Abrasives can be reused allowing the consumer added value and economy.
Made in the USA: Sunblast Abrasives are made from post consumer recycled glass recovered in the US and diverted from landfills. The glass is processed and cleaned in facilities in US, providing green jobs.
Crushed glass as a blasting abrasive is a proven material, thoroughly tested and shown to offer advantages over other blasting media. It is safer, more economical and fast. SunBlast will produce less dust. It is ideal for stripping tough coatings and will leave a cleaner, whiter surface. Crushed glass is less likely to jam or clog in wet environments. Bottom line: SunBlast offers superior overall performance compared to other blasting media.
